Toilet Trained For Yale: Adventures in 21st Century Parenting is a book that dissects some of the parenting practices of today that have the potential to make us — and our kids — just a little bit crazy. From overscheduling to overschooling, Ralph Schoenstein goes into the classes and talks to parents and teachers as he tries to find out just what is motivating all of this overparenting.
Overemphasis on getting into the right schools? Probably.
But this book is written sensibly and conversationally, and it’s an excellent reassurance to those of us who aren’t jumping on every baby class, early language immersion, touring sports opportunity.
The kids are gonna be okay.
